Scifest Competition

Scifest is a science fair for second level students which was held in I.T. Sligo on May 10th 2016.  Students from Second Year took part in the fair with various different projects.  We would like to congratulate Hugh Hunt and Thomas McHale who were awarded first place in their category of over 90 projects.  They also went on to win the Best Overall Prize which is a fantastic achievement.  Their project studied the Sugar Content in different drinks and they gathered very interesting evidence.  Their project is displayed in the school to help educate the school community of the sugar contained in different juices and soft drinks.  Congratulations also to their teacher, Mrs. D'Arcy.

The Health Promoting Schools Programme

We have recently got involved in an initiative run by the HSE entitled: The Health Promoting Schools Programme.

THe HPS Flag is presented by the HSE to schools as an acknowledgement of their work in improving the health of their school communities.  It supports schools to focus on health and wellbeing and involve all members of the school community.

In conjunction with this, a questionnaire has been devised to gain a better understanding of students eating habits during the school day.  We would greatly appreciate if Parents/Guardians and Students would complete this short questionnaire to support us in achieving our Health Promoting School Flag.

For more information or if you would like to get involved, please contact Ms. Boland, HPS Co-ordinator on 094-9256145.

Please click on the link below to access the survey.
